Person Finder Mobile Project
Supporting the data collection efforts of Person Finder
with a custom data collection tool for Android phones based on Open Data Kit.
CrisisCamp Update
If you are involved in a CrisisCamp this weekend, have an Android phone, or are an
Android or App Engine developer, please follow the
getting started steps below. You can log suggestions or bugs on the code site at:

Why is there a Person Finder Mobile Project?
Because not everyone in Haiti has access to the web or SMS to register with the current
People Finder systems. And, rather than relying on unstructured text messages, tweets, or
blog posts, Person Finder Mobile gives a volunteer on the ground a tool to tap into
the vast majority of the population that have not yet contacted friends and relatives, or
reported their loved ones as missing persons.
How does this work?
Built on
Open Data Kit,
Person Finder Mobile provides an XForm / PFIF tool to collect
data on missing people from on-the-ground in Haiti. It will push data into the official repository at
http://haiticrisis.appspot.com
according to the developer guide.
